Suggested Wall Sconce Heights

The height of the wall sconce depends on its location and the intended activity. For instance, a sconce next to the front door will be higher than a sconce next to the bed as a reading light. Factor in the type of wall sconce, its own height, and whether it points up or down. Wall sconce heights are measured from the floor and are only suggestions. Adjust as needed.

Instructions (Installing on an old electrical box)

Step 1: Turn Off the Power

Turn off power to the work area by shutting off circuits at the electric service panel.

Step 2: Attach the Mounting Bracket

Step 3: Attach the Wall Sconce to the Wires

Ensure secure and proper wiring by connecting the wires from the wall sconce to the corresponding wires in the electrical box. Remember, for most setups, the black wire represents the live or 'hot' wire, the white wire signifies the neutral connection, and the ground wire typically appears as exposed copper. Attach the ground wire to the designated green ground screw within the electrical box for safety purposes. In the wall sconce's wiring, you may find a Blue wire, indicating the 'hot' connection, and a Brown wire, representing the 'Neutral' connection. Connect the Blue wire from the sconce to the Black wire in the electrical box and the Brown wire to the White wire for proper functionality and safe operation." Always make sure to follow local electrical codes and, if in doubt, seek assistance from a licensed electrician for a secure and compliant installation.

Step 4: Secure the Connected Wires

Secure the electrical connections using wire nuts. Place the exposed ends of the cables together and insert them into the wire nut. Be cautious not to push the wires too deeply into the nut, as this might cause the wires to bunch up, potentially affecting the connection quality. Alternatively, electrical tape can also be used to secure and insulate the joined wires.

Step 5: Attach the Sconce to the Wall Bracket

Gently place the sconce onto the wall bracket and secure it using the provided screws. Ensure it's firmly attached and level.

Step 6: Test the Installation

Turn the power supply back on and test the wall sconce to ensure it functions correctly.

Step 7: Final Checks

Check the stability and alignment of the installed wall sconces. Make any necessary adjustments.

Important Notes:

  • Ensure all electrical connections are made following safety guidelines and local electrical codes.
  • If in doubt about the electrical installation, seek professional assistance from a licensed electrician.
  • Regularly inspect and clean the wall sconces to maintain their appearance and functionality.
